Happy Memorial Day Weekend!!!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. I haven't blogged in a while, but I've had some things happening not necessarily good things, but things nonetheless.

I made a couple of pieces for a friend of mine as a gift to his girlfriend for her birthday. After he gave them to her she broke up with him. Was it something I did??? Anyway, I told him that I would buy the pieces back from him, clean them up, give them a little good mojo & see what I could do with them. The ring has already sold.

This stone is Agua Nueva from Mexico. Mexico really does have some of the prettiest stones. It's hard to tell from the pic, but the blurry bit under the granulation was my attempt to texturize a little leaf under the "flower". Back to the drawing board on that one. I did have a little solder blow out on the bottom, but the ring got the "oops" price & the buyer is more than happy with the ring.

This is a little piece of sea glass that I bezel set. I wasn't able to get the bezel completely flush with the top of the glass, but I kinda like the "waves"; it seems appropriate somehow. I made the "buoy" bail with some twisted wire I had ordered for no particular reason & decided to use it. I'll use it again, probably for the same purpose.

I love sea glass, but it can be a bit of a pain to find a piece that even wants to get acquainted with a bezel, much less one that will let a bezel embrace it like an old friend. This is a piece of white sea glass & I cut the back out of it so the light can shine through. If you look through the sea glass you can see the beach. Well, maybe you have to use your imagination a little.

I hope y'all have a safe & fun weekend.

I've Got Stones!!!

One of my mail carriers brought these to me today. Yes, I have about 4-5 different mail carriers. I rarely see the same one 2 days in a row...I don't understand. Anyway, this should be a lesson to you kiddies Do NOT order stones without checking the size of said stones.
Oh, BTW, the shells did not come with the stones a little squirrel didn't clean up after himself.

The ginormous stone on the right is said stone. I'll have to keep this stone until I get a Big Girl's torch....I'll never get a bezel soldered with my little butane torch. this stone is approx.

1 3/4" X 1 1/2"

See?? My little torch is skeered.

Dakota couldn't understand why I was standing on my back porch & not paying attention to her, as she really digs attention & sometimes gets a little miffed if she's not the center of attention.

She tries to be aloof:

Then she pouts and plays the "poor, pitiful me". It's not like she's a drama queen or anything.

Y'all have a blessed day & Happy Mother's Day!!!

Headed to Mexico

Well, I'm not but these pieces are........eventually. I completed this custom order which was not due until August, but the solder was flowing so nicely for me that I just couldn't stop with the fire!! AAhhh, good times, good times. These are all going to my friend's Tias, Abuela, y Madre in Mexico. Araceli hasn't seen her family in Mexico in a few years and she wanted to take them a love gift. These little babies still need their jewelry, but that will have to wait until my mail carrier brings the chain I ordered. It's fun to think of jewelry having jewelry. Kinda like getting Dakota (my dog) a dog, which I have actually considered. Dakota could walk her dog & teach her dog tricks.....hmmmm. Ok, I need to step away from the edge of this abyss or I will start rambling. No, I'm not rambling yet, but I'm never more than a couple of thoughts away. Is it any wonder that I have insomnia?

Back on topic (sorry)

I'm still working on my photography, I'll get it, I promise. It's pollen season in NC, so the stones still have a slight chartreuse patina, even thought I kept wiping them off. My truck has been several shades of chartreuse for the past month, not a very attractive color for a black truck. Does that make sense??

I'll have another order ready to go by this afternoon, I know!! I can't seem to stop, but my poor hands are telling me that they need some healing time.

Y'all take care , be safe & wash your hands.
